Ask your clinic manager if . . .

  • They require staff to use prescribing aides like Bugs & Drugs or Spectrum.
  • Community Health Workers have been trained to talk about antibiotics with patients.
  • The clinic makes the Guide to Wise Use of Antibiotics available to patients.
  • They understand that education about antibiotic use is as important as proper use. 
  • They track antibiotic prescribing, and review their clinic data to see if it is appropriate.
  • They discuss proper antibiotic prescribing regularly in staff meetings. 

Public Education

In your community, do you know . . .

  • If people feel comfortable talking to their doctors or nurses about questions or concerns that they have?
  • If when there is a health fair, is there anyone who will provide resources on appropriate antibiotic use?
  • If a parent wanted to find information about handwashing or how to manage common infections, they would know where to look?
  • If there is a Community Health Representative who has resources to support community education on appropriate antibiotic use?
  • If people aware of what antibiotic resistance is, and why it is dangerous?
